Due to a lack of infrastructure, northern Ghana is far more sparsely populated than the rest of the West African nation states. Although about 40% of the population is working in agriculture, year after year more and more people are drawn to the southern metropolises with the prospect of getting a better education and securing jobs. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing rural exodus and the resulting rapid growth of the major cities, state institutions such as schools are also slipping out of the government's focus. Failu, a founding member of the local organization "Emaraaba Northern Ghana," was visibly made aware of the lack of government funding when he entered the elementary school in the village of Tichelli, which had only been renovated in 2018. Due to a strong hailstorm, the roof of the school was destroyed in such a way that since then it represents a life-threatening danger for the approximately 150 school children. With your help, we were able to help Failu repair it and give the children of Tichalle a safe roof over their heads.
