As the concerns and problems of people's everyday lives have to be mastered on a daily basis, animal welfare in many parts of Southeast Asia often receives less attention than we know it from home. On the 800 km south of Bangkok, the local animal welfare organization "Lanta Animal Welfare" has made it its business to fight against this misunderstanding between humans and animals.Since 2005, Lanta Animal Welfare has been caring for the well-being of countless stray four-legged friends, as the sole veterinary service provider. The employees drive regularly over the island(s) and the mainland for feedings. They also keep an eye out for cats and dogs whose home has become the street. So every year about 4,500 animals are sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, refostered and mostly re-released where they were found. As a result, not a single case of rabies has been detected on Lanta in 15 years. Trained professionals care for the well-being of each young patient with the utmost dedication and affection. Critical cases remain at the welfare center until full recovery is confirmed. There they have enough space to recover, are cared for around the clock, get their daily exercise and can later be adopted by anyone with an open heart. The costs for daily feedings, medical equipment, water and electricity are immense and are partly covered by the in-house restaurant, daily tours and donations. At the end of 2022, we self-financed the construction of a new adoption area to make getting to know people and animals more personal. We were there twice and the welfare of the animals is very important to us. Therefore, with your help, we would like to contribute to the ongoing ones At least cover the costs of this important organization. Sebastian sums it up with these few words: "The employees there have their hearts in the right place, let us help".
