As every one of us knows, there is a global gender gap, particularly in the labor market. This often results in less access to high earning employment for women and less pay for the same work. In turn, these gaps lead to long-term economic and health disparities that disproportionately impact women. The big question is: what can we do about it? What if we approached the task from the other side by taking the problem into our own hands? As women help each other gain better access to the labor market, they are taking action to confront the issue! We begin this mission in Tanzania, which according to the United Nations, ranks 129th out of 159 countries on the issue of gender equality. Here we focus our attention on the tourism industry, which accounts for up to 17.5% of Tanzania's gross domestic product. One of the lucrative positions in this industry is as a safari guide. However, only one in a thousand guides is female!!! In this profession one can earn significantly much more money compared to subsistence farming, where the majority of women work. Let's support the women who want to seize this opportunity and make it possible for them to become trained as safari guides! Join us and support the Female Guides Community Initiative Tanzania!
