School development program

One-third of the population lives below the poverty line. There is a strong imbalance between urban and rural areas, where about 70 % of the kingdom's 17 million inhabitants live. There is a strong imbalance between urban and rural areas, where about 70 % of the kingdom's 17 million inhabitants live outside the city. Although the law stipulates free schooling for 9 years, many poor children still face exploitation and abuse. In addition, violence against children, malnutrition and poor hygiene are the breeding ground for the resulting serious deficit in the adequate protection of children's rights. For 20 years, the organization Sunshine Cambodia has been working for the protection of children and the right to receive education. In a long-term program involving 3 rural elementary schools, a good and safe environment is created for around 500 children and protection is ensured. This is achieved, among other things, through close cooperation with the local councils, regular inspections, support for teaching staff and cooperation with local authorities. We want to support the Sunshine Cambodia Organization for the next few years so we can give a privilege that we take for granted to those for whom it seems unattainable. Together, let's make a big difference.
