The Dog Care Clinic (DCC), founded in 2007, is tirelessly committed to protecting and improving the welfare of street dogs in Sri Lanka. Located in Mihiripenna-Talpe, near Galle, the clinic cares for up to 1,500 animals daily. Its primary goal is to sustainably reduce the street dog population through spay/neuter and vaccination programs, which also prevent the spread of diseases like rabies. In addition to medical care, the DCC provides special areas for severely disabled and elderly dogs, offering them a safe home. Daily feeding tours ensure the care of stray dogs. A special focus is the "DCC 50+" program, which places dogs with elderly people who, in return, receive financial support – a win-win situation for both humans and animals. Since 2021, the clinic has extended its aid to include distressed farm animals. The DCC's impressive record includes over 99,000 spay/neuter surgeries, more than 600,000 vaccinations, and over 560,000 treatments. A personal insight: In December 2024, Sebastian visited the Dog Care Clinic and was able to see the work on the ground for himself. "The urgency to support this work is overwhelming," he reports. "Every euro helps to alleviate the suffering of the animals and positively shape their future." The "DCC 50+" program, which places older or disabled dogs with needy seniors in Sri Lanka, is a project close to the clinic's heart. The seniors receive a monthly pension, while the clinic takes care of medical care and food provision. "This project is not only animal welfare, but also important support for elderly people in need," Sebastian emphasizes. Since each place in the "DCC 50+" program incurs at least €85 in additional monthly costs, the project relies on continuous donations. Become part of the solution: Support the Dog Care Clinic and help reduce the suffering of animals and provide a better future for elderly people in Sri Lanka. Every contribution counts!
